2012 "Best and Worst Movie"

What can I say about this movie...

I went into the theater with unbalanced expectations and came out with an unbalanced opinion. 2012 makes "The Day After Tomorrow" look like a joke in the realm of special effects and I remember thinking the same thing about "The Core" when "The Day After Tomorrow" first hit the box office. It never ceases to amaze me how they manage to step the CG up a notch every single time they make a movie. The level of detail that is captured during the mass devastation of entire cities alone is worth the money spent to see it on the big screen. When the buildings start to topple over you're able to clearly see from a distance people sliding out of the broken windows and falling to their doom. However if you don't have a deep appreciation for computer graphics "CG" then do not bother wasting your hard earned money because you will leave the theater very disappointed. The movie lacks all forms of realism and believability. The main characters manage to avoid thousands of obstacles that would have killed them if they had hit a single roadblock.

Extremely far fetched scenes like in the movie "Speed" where the bridge is out and they manage to jump the bus over the massive gap happen far to often in this movie. Most of the time I was able to hold back from laughing by admiring the photo realistic computer graphics that made my mouth drop. If you like mass destruction and awesome graphics then by all means go and see this movie! If you are looking for a good story and an overall intelligent movie then I would recommend not wasting your time or money!

In conclusion the only reason I liked it was because I have a deep appreciation for "CG" and a passion for it.

My new home theater!

Hello All

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything on my blog! I got a little carried away trying to post something every single day on top of everything else I had on the go. I sort of burnt myself out and needed a good long break but I'm back now. My intention is to make a post on each week day and take the weekend off.

I know plenty about audiovisual equipment but of course that doesn't mean I can afford any of it myself. My wife and I just decided to spend a little money to build a home theater of our own so I'm excited to put up some pictures when I'm done. My future posts will also include movie reviews and equipment reviews.

We're installing a full 1080p projector "Optoma HD20" which I will do a review on once I get it. I turned my wall into a 100" diagonal 16:9 "wide format" screen which I will also do an in depth post on how to do yourself. I'll include pictures once its all finished so feel free to comment and ask questions!
